MOBBs Tournament Details Welcome to Towcestrians RFC for the U9 division of the annual MOBBS Memorial tournament to be held on 27th November.

This tournament is played in honour of the memory of Lt-Col Edgar Mobbs, DSO, who lost his life in the Great War, leading men from the Sportsmans Battalion, the 7th (Service) Battalion of the Northamptonshire Regiment, against a German machine-gun post at Passchendaele. He played for Bedford Modern School, Olney, Northampton, East Midlands and Captained England against France in 1910.

We know that the players will display the bravery, sportsmanship and competitiveness exemplified by Edgar Mobbs. We ask that parents and supporters respond with positive encouragement, respect and sportsmanship typical of the game of rugby.

24 clubs have entered this year’s U9s Mobbs so the tournament has been split between two clubs. Brackley will host the southern division and we at Towcestrians are delighted to be hosting the Northern division. The winner of each division will go through to the final to be contested in the spring.

We will have 3 leagues of 4 teams, played in round robin format, with games lasting 6 minutes each way with a minute for half time. When all league games have been played, the 1st placed team will go into a further league of three i.e. all league winners will play each other as will 2nd placed teams in a second league. The ‘winner of the winners’ league is the team that will go forward to play in the final.

Referees
EMMJRA is unable to supply referees for the tournament so each team will be required to have an accredited referee in attendance. We will make every effort to ensure that your referee does not have to officiate in a game while his own team is playing elsewhere. However, please be aware refereeing duties will take priority. Please forward the name of your referee.
