Bugbrooke Training Game - Won 10-0
Final Score: 10-0

A good mornings rugby in a training match format against Bugbrooke to get all the players used to a big pitch and the 15 a side game. In all we played three 20 minute sessions and managed to get a lot of game time for all of our squad.

First session: Won 10-0
We agreed with Bugbrooke that for the first 20 minute session we would play what we both considered to be our strongest team, and it provided a very competative match. Both sides had some good possession and went through a number of phases of play and both defences were good. However by moving the ball wider on two occasions and getting it into the hands of our faster backs Towcester scored two good tries that won us the session.

Second Session: Lost 0-17
Due to the depth of our squad we made 11 player changes for the second session to ensure that all players had at least a full 20 minutes of rugby, and for the first 10 minutes of this session we played very well holding the game scoreless. Bugbrooke then scored a very good solo try and our heads went down a bit, and through some lack of concentration we conceded two more tries. There were some excellent individual performances in this game but as a team we were not strong enough to hold the Bugbrooke forwards.

Third Session: Draw 0-0
A game of missed opportunities! We mixed up the whole squad for this session and for all of the game had the majority of the possession and territory, however due to some poor decisions when we had the ball going forward we did not score the tries we should have done. Too often players took the ball into contact in the middle of the field when they had support out wide. We must improve on this part of our game if we are to win matches.

Overall a pleasing start to the Junior rugby campaign, and a very smart finish to the day. Well done to all players, we had a lot of compliments on how smart we all looked after the game. A standard we intend to keep up for the season!
